Traditionally, Multi Room Audio was a wired system incorporating a central hub, keypads in each zone & a pair or more of wired speakers.

While these type of systems still exist & they offer rock solid reliability, wireless systems have crept up in recent years.

If you are renovating your home, the wired option makes sense – the sound can typically be better in-room also with a good set of in-ceiling or in-wall speakers.

These are less obtrusive nowadays and can even be skimmed over & painted if desired.

If you are simply looking to add good sound to an existing home without all the building work, a wireless system will be the best solution.

The most popular of these systems is SONOS.
